When one of our officers/employees goes above and beyond in the line of duty, it is important to recognize their efforts, dedication, and professionalism. Commending an officer/employee is a positive way to show appreciation for their service and highlight the importance of their role in the community.
Why Commend a Police Officer or Civilian Staff Member?
Police department employees often face challenging situations, and when they handle them with care, professionalism, and respect, it deserves to be acknowledged. Commendations help:

When to Commend an Officer/Employee?
You may wish to commend an officer/employee if:
- They provided exceptional assistance or support during an emergency or difficult situation.

- They resolved a conflict or incident in a professional or effective manner.
- They made a positive impact on your life or the community through their actions.

FILE A COMPLAINT ON A
GILA RIVER POLICE DEPARTMENT EMPLOYEE
The Professional Standards Unit (PSU) upholds the integrity of the Gila River Police Department and is responsible for investigating and finding the truth to what occurred when an officer is accused of misconduct. An investigation can also give insight on a policy itself that may need to be reviewed or modified. PSU investigations can also protect departmental members from false misconduct allegations, fostering a fair and accountable environment for the Community and the employees.
Intentionally filing a false complaint against a police employee is a violation of Arizona State Law, A.R.S. 13-290701. (A) and is a violation of GRIC Tribal Law, 5.503 False Reporting.
We are committed to treating everyone with dignity and respect. If you feel a member of the Gila River Police Department did not meet these standards, we encourage you to file a complaint.
Filing a Complaint
Complaints can be submitted by letter, phone, or in person at the locations below. A police supervisor or the PSU will address the matter, depending on its severity. All complaints are thoroughly documented and investigated.
